Week 1 — Defining AI in Operational Terms

This week’s group work is about building a shared, practical understanding of AI. The goal is not to debate definitions for the sake of it, but to get clearer on what AI actually means inside a business context.

The group task

As a group, agree on:

  • a simple operational definition of AI
  • one example where AI would realistically apply
  • one example where AI would likely be overstated or irrelevant

Or, if we are using small groups first:

Step 1: Share your own perspective in your assigned group
Step 2: Compare views and identify common ground
Step 3: One person posts the group’s final summary to the cohort thread

How to use this space

Start by posting your own short perspective. Then react to at least two contributions from others. As a group, work toward one shared position by the end of the week.

A strong contribution is practical, clear, and tied to business reality. Avoid generic statements about AI being “the future” or “important for innovation”.
